Over 70 years of Banana Farming Knowledge & Experience

Located in the Palmerston Valley, the future of banana farming in the local area commenced in the 1950’s when the Buchanan Family first decided to grow 30 acres of cavendish bananas on their 600 acre farm. Generations later, the Palmerston Valley Farm, now operating as LMB Farming Pty Ltd, has expanded to 500 acres of banana growing land.

In 2010, LMB Farming Pty Ltd expanded their operations to include another 100 acre farm at Bartle Frere, which has now grown to 500 acres. An acquisition of a third farm by the business partners, has now seen the total banana growing area increase to 1400 acres with the potential to grow to 1600 acres in total.

Being a consistent supplier to major retail supermarkets around Australia, both farms operate all year-round, and employ up to 150 people across all farms. The LMB Employee Family consist of both local and international workers who are integral to the success of the business.

LMB Farming Pty Ltd also attribute their success to their commitment to innovation and efficiency, as well as environmentally sustainable practices. Attention to detail and producing a quality product is what LMB is renowned for within the banana farming community.

LMB Farming also grows sugar cane and produce beef cattle on nearby properties.
